I live in Las Cruces NM and I was in Atlanta visiting an uncle and he took us to Panang. Everything we ordered was outstanding (two out of the four dishes we ordered are mentioned in your post; Vegetables in Curry Sauce and Fried Squid). I can highly recommend the Seafood in Black Pepper Sauce because we all agreed it was the best dish of the four ordered. My sister-in-law who lives in Gainesville, GA eats there as often as she can because it is one of her favorite resturants. I will not hesitate to return on future visits to Atlanta.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6440848385976141194.post-28656986877061326872009-11-10T09:55:36.844-08:002009-11-10T09:55:36.844-08:00It's definitely feasible to sell bacon for a l...It's definitely feasible to sell bacon for a living. That's what I did post-Reed for 2 years. I made more money than I ever have at any other job. PDX is bacon crazy to be sure. Multiple flavors and custom curing is the best way to make it work, too. I had lists miles long of people who wanted wacky flavor combinations. I'm sure Berlin has the same. I'm glad someone is hitting the farmer's markets--I was on the waiting list as well prior to returning to school--because there's a lot of money to be made.

If you like lamb bacon, try suckling pig guanciale. What you had left were more heat-stable compounds (such as chlorophyll a, b--although this would seem unlikely in a root vegetable such as a radish) which retained their ability to color the food product.
